I have a problem. I have a 1996 Pontiac grand am, 4cyl. I am having the following problems. When I start the car from a cold start the car has a very hard time starting. I some times have backfires or the car will stall out. Other times it will try to start but then it will sputter. Sometimes starting other times dieing. I have been putting midgrade gas in the care and I have ran fuel line cleaner through the system.
Most of the problems that I have described above disappear after the car has heated up. Once the car is started I sometimes have loss of power when driving and the car will sputter when I am accelerating. I have checked all of the liquids in the car and they are fine. Dose anyone have any Idea. I am not really good at working on my car but I need some Ideas so that when I get the car fixed I can have an Idea of what might be wrong. Patrickw99 |

Does your service engine soon light come on at all? If so, then you have a code stored in your ECM. Autozone will retrieve your codes for you for free. That will most likely determine your problem.
