I'm not familiar with the popping noise coming from the rear, but lubricating the front strut tower helped eliminate the squeaking noise from my Alero front end.

When is the noise occurring - all the time, just when you turn, when you go over bumps??

As for the window defroster, there are a couple likely possibilities - a fuse, the defroster relay, or the switch are the most likely if the defroster isn't working at all. If some of the elements work, but it's leaving lines of frost in certain areas, then some of the elements have probably been damaged. Autozone sells a repair kit for them for about $15.

Re: couple of problems any help??

The rear defroster issue is common on Alero's, GA's, and Malibu's. The plug at the window usually melts inside. I have heard that these can be replaced but I have also read that the entire rear window needs to be replaced with a new defroster.
