One month ago I replaced my radiator. After I replaced my radiator every two days I have to refill my antifreeze reservoir. Do you what may cause this. I took the car to tire plus and they ran test on the radiator and find no leak. He also mentioned the thermostat looks fine. He told me most likely it could be the cover for the radiator. I replaced it still the same problem. Whenever I am driving I can smell the antifreeze. There is no leak anywhere. Please advice.

Re: 1996 Camry -- Loosing antifreeze
If it's loosing coolant, then it is leaking somewhere.
Check inside the car on the floor in front on the passenger side for moisture. Your heater core can leak and coolant will end up saturating the carpet right there. You mentioned you smell coolant every time you drive. This could be the reason. Hope this is not the case; heater cores are expensive to replace becuase it is a labor intensive job, unless you do it yourself; then it is a back-breaking job. If you do not find the heater core is leaking, then take it to somebody who will pressure test the cooling system. They will remove the radiator cap and replace it will a special cap attached to a hand pump. They will use the pump to put the system under pressure and then look for leaks. Good luck with the problem. Mike |
