Lack of Back Pressure - Possible Solution?

I have a 98 civic HX with headers, high flow cat, 2.5" mandrel pipes and a cheapo fart can muffler. I'd like to opt for a 500$ SS cat-back system, but that's just not in the budget at the moment. My car has a lack of back-pressure, I believe due to the poor installation of my system, as well as the quality of the muffler. What I would like to do is have a simple big-daddy style glass pack welded in place behind the cat. Glass packs by themselves dramatically reduce back pressure, but I believe in conjuction with my current set-up, it will help raise the pressure a bit. I also think it will help rid me of the "bumble bee" sound my car currently has, (hence my forum name.) If anyone has any insight as to whether or not this is a good idea or not, please let me know. I don't want to fork over 60 dollars if I don't have to. I'm a working student and money is precious.

get rid of ur high flow cat, and get a bigger resonator (glasspack) and you should be fine.

but you are going to have to get an hour minimum or welding done to your piping which is going to run you more like 100 just fot the welding on top of the money for the resonator

Just have a small resonator put in after the cat and before the bend toward the axle (like a real cat back has). I just did this 2 days ago and it cost $36... It sounds and runs out better than ever... I should really have done it a long time ago.

I actually got it done today. I took my car in to have a leak fixed and decided to drop some money to put in a glass pack behind my cat. Cost 50$ all together. Very happy with the result. It sounds so much better.. deeper and mellower, and still loud but not as loud.. Definately worth the money.

so would a turbo make your car more efficient with emmisions because it helps move the exhaust gases out and reduce...shit i just got a headache..... but basicly the air being pushed in and taken out of the motor is more efficient or am i retarded

in a turbo system you're burning more fuel, so more "shit" is coming out. its pretty much the a/f that will determine if you will pass or fail a emission test.

i didnt read the article but im sure its about the myth about back pressure. well you dont want back pressure in the system, you want high velocity without back pressure. going with smaller pipes will probally help you.

Well all I know, is that my system lacked some type of pressure that I knew from past experiences, could be attained by some type of resonator. That write-up was very informative, and thanks for posting it.
