97 4Runner keyless entry/stereo query...

Wondering if anybody knows what might cause the beep (when arming and disarming) of my factory alarm system (VIP RS3000) to sometimes work and sometimes not? It worked quite reliably up until maybe about a year ago. There doesn't seem to be any specific instances when it definitely works and definitely does NOT work. I'm thinking there might be a loose connection or something worn out. Of course the problem never shows up when I take it in for service, so the dealer is of no help. Thanks in advance...

In addition, half of the lighting in the LCD display of my factory 3-in-1 stereo has gone out as well. Is this even worth fixing? I can see it fine in the daytime, but at night w/headlights on, the left half is pretty dark. Any and all suggestions appreciated!

My 96 4Runner has the same issue with the piazzo cherp (same sec.sys). It works for a while then stops for a few locks/unlocks. Im not too sure if its a loose connection or not, but its probably the beeper and its age.

My factory lcd buttons also went out a while back, but the cd player stopped working out of warranty so i just replaced it. Seeing as how the stereo was over 1k to begin with, they wanted a pricey amount to sent it out and fix it.

I think the chirper stops working because it becomes old. The tweeter that makes the noise, gets coroded and stops working- I think. Mine worked fine and started to work on/off, then eventually stopped completley. As for the radio, I think your better off getting a brand new radio.
