Valve Adjustment Problem
Adjusting the valve clearances in my 1994 Honda Accord F22B1 vtec engine (16 valves).
I am to the point where I have the feeler gauge inserted, a wrench around the locknut, and a screwdriver in the 'feeler screw' I suppose it's called. It's almost as if the nuts on all valves are freakin WIELDED to the screw. When I try turning the screw, the nut turns with it. When I try turning the nut, the screw turns with it. No matter how hard I try, they wont seperate. Am I doing something wrong? |

You just need to make sure you are loosing the lock nut and then tring to trun the adjusting screw. If you are already doing this then all I can say is you must try harder or if you are afraid you are going to break something than take it to a shop. But it should not be hard to turn after the lock nut is loosened.

i had the same problem before too but it was on a different kind head. i just used force and it broke loose but i ended up slicing my pinky really bad because it ran across some sharp metal, almost to the bone.

we use a specail tool at honda that holds the nut so we turn the screw. Try snap-on or napa

use a ratchet wrench! i just adjusted my valves today. make sure you loosen the nut an extra turn before you tighten the screw.
