Ls1 Vs. 1.3 Rotary

wassup guyz well yesterday my friend and i were in my z28 and we came upon a dealership with a 1994 mazda rx-7 turbo auto. I have to admit i have always been in love with the curves of that car and it being an auto turbo really caused a disturbance in me. I know stock those cars are very fast but i am very careful about the rotary engines and their reliability so what i am asking should i trade in my ls1 which is stock except for h/e/intake for the rx-7 or stick with the old american muscle. Also, in a street race, which would win and also which would have the higher top speed and my ls1 is also auto. Thanx

or you can have your cake and eat it by dropping an Ls1 into the RX7.

here is a company that makes a kit for exactly that:

Re: Ls1 Vs. 1.3 Rotary

most people who dont own rotarys think that they fall apart which isnt true but sometimes you get ppl who have and say they suck but thats just their lack of maintenance/knowledge. its a meticulous engine but if you know how to take care the car the right way then you wont have any problems. my friend has had his FD for 5 years and has never had any problems with it. as far as the Z28, its a drivers race. id stick with ur 'maro since you dont have a past with rotarys

edit:
o damn you said ls1, my bad. in that case id probably say the camaro will win in drag but if its a good driver in the rx7 then you better watch it.

Stick with your Camaro, and the auto trans in it is very good and capable of handling lots of power. I would say an auto RX-7 would lose to you, and a manual version would be a decent race, but with your I/H/E you will still win.

I don't think an ls1 vs a 1.3 rotory is a fair comparision

its a fair comparo if its a turbo, those engines pack some power. then when u consider how much lighter the rx7 is, its a pretty good comparo.

also the 1.3L rotaries compared directly with a 4 stroke piston engines should be considered with double the displacement since they have 1 powerstroke for each revolution. So that would make it a 2.6L twin turbo.

Drivers race? They are both auto's. How hard can it be. From a roll smash the gas. From a dig, power brake and floor the gas.

I think you are full of shit. First, no one swaps heads on that car without a new cam. Second, if you really did have those mods you wouldn't think of the turbo RX-7 as "very fast". Looks like you just want to start a flame fest.

The RX-7. the LS1 like alot of american muscle car engines have a lot of low end torque , but no high end power. You would get off the line faster with the auto, but rotaries unleash their full power in high rpm ranges (Particularly the 13B-REW). You would most likely get top out. However the RX-7 fast in a straight line is quick but, is not a 12-13.5 drag monster, This is a touring/sport car so it is made primarily for road racing. Such a question would have to be more specific.

i was actually thinking about MTs but if you're assuming that theres one and only one way to launch an auto no matter what the engine/tranny characteristics then go right ahead. knock yourself out porsche..................................

daddy. *chuckles*

Are you serious...your thinking of an LT1, the LS1 is a TOP END MONSTER!! And also I think he was trying to say headers, not heads....to me FAIR comparison, and the drag....whoever gets out of the whole better since both autos...

Im gunna agree with it being a fair fight

LS1 is gunna haul in a drag and have damn good high end. On the 7's side its 50/50 with its weight and much lighter at that and its high end is also sumthing to be reckoned with specially a turbo. But whats the fun in racin with a automatic?
