Engine mods?

I recently have been offered a chance to sell my 2000 civic for a 1997 BMW 750 il but im quite skeptical because i enjoy working on my engine but im not sure if i could do anything to the 750 il.....basically question is, are there any engine mods that i could do to fix up the V12 engine?

The V12 of a 1997 BMW 750iL will have around 400hp in stock form, but...

-There's probably a performance chip that you could buy to "fix up" the V12 a bit.
-Bentley's Publishing sells a good manual for 88-94 7-series cars which includes good info about the V12. Probably the 1997 version of the engine is almost the same.
-Be advised that the engine is really crammed into the available space and is quite difficult to work on. Also, there's two of everything: two air intakes, two mass airflow meters, two engine control computers, etc.
-Remember that you're talking about one of the most complex cars ever built and there's a lot of things on it, which means there's a lot of things to go wrong, but the engine itself is very reliable and provides one helluva driving experience.

I'm not trying to talk you out of it, just trying to make you examine your goals. If you want to drive one of the best cars in the world at an affordable price this may be a great opportunity for you since you likely have the skills/guts to do a lot of the maintenance yourself. If your goal is to have an engine to tinker with you should probably pass on the 750iL.

oh wow! that is completely insane! i didnt think that it would be possible to install a turbo? or is that just the intercooler for colder air flow? how much does a kit like that run for? and how can i get it?!?! thanks for replying i was about to give up hope on the 750 il but i guess i can also have fun with this engine as well thanks again. late.

400 hp?

The 750iL is one of BMW's premier luxury sedans. It seats five passengers and is designed to provide a smooth ride without sacrificing performance. The 750 has a 12 cylinder engine that can generate up to 326 horsepower. With a maximum speed of 128mph and acceleration from 0 to 60 in 6.6 seconds, the 750 performs well for a luxury sedan. However, it sacrifices gas mileage, getting only 13mpg city and 20 mpg highway.

Also expect around $1500-2000 a year in repairs/maintance. Is alot easier to just get a 740iL
