2004 Silverado Cold Start

Just wondering is anyone else is having this same problem or might know what the issue is....
It seems when temperatures are 10 above or below, I start my truck and just after it starts, it makes a quick noise... I can't really explain the noise, but it almost sounds like a quick "click". It almost sounds similiar to when your vehicle is running and you try to start it again when it's already running. It does not occur when temps are above 10 degrees.
The quick sound seems like it's coming from the ignition or maybe the alternator. I'm not sure... Any help or thoughts are greatly appreciated. My '98 did the same thing occasionally but it only did it when it was extremely cold, like 15-20 below zero.
I'm beginning to hate my new truck more and more!

Well I love my new 2004 silverado 1500 truck - but I am experiencing something similar to your description. It sounds to me - like the starter spins and momentum carries it just a hair longer before disengaging - with mine its about 1/10th of a second at most. I notive it happening when the temperature is less than about 20 degrees or so - but I notice it when the vehicle is cold. Starting it in cold weather when the truck has already been run does not do it. To me - its like some grease or lubrication or spring rebound is slightly slowed by temperature (once truck is warmed up - then engine heat radiates to are just enough so it no longer is noticeable).

Something this small is not a reason to hate any vehicle - just something small to eventually get corrected. It sure is not a grinding or sustained issue from what I've seen. And interestingly - really really cold weather like we've just had (-10) doesn't make it worse than 10 above etc..
