camaro vs. 300zx

which car is better all around as far as reliable fast fun to drive and easy to work on?? a 1990 camaro iroc(only came in auto so id have to spend 2k to swap it rite away) or a 300zx na(i would prolly end up spendin bout 2500 to swap the turbo engine)either way it will cost money but which car is better to start with??

it would definetely be easier to get the iroc and work on it because swapping the VGTT isnt as simple as dropping in a new engine and tranny. id pick the Z32 anyday but im just letting you know its not as simple a swap as other engines.

Re: camaro vs. 300zx

you should do an lt-1 & t56 swap into that camaro. 275hp and a 6 speed in that would be fun.

the n/a is harder to make remarkably faster but if you started with a TT it is almost too easy to get power from it.

trust me, the 300zx's (Z31 or Z32) are not easy cars to work on. not because they are a overwhelmingly complex engine, just because there isnt much room to get wrenches where you need to get them. the Z32 looks overwhelming when you look at it but when you start dividing it, you will see nissan did a wonderful job making it as easy as possible to work on.

that $2,000 that you spend swapping in the manual tranny in the camaro you can get the n/a to run in the 14's with the use of nitrous. the n/a engine can take a 100 shot pretty easy, but after that you will need to rebuild your engine to withstand more nitrous or swap in a TT motor. with the n/a, you can add all the basic bolt-ons and then add nitrous and you may be able to see 13's. all the bolt-ons may get you into the 14's, most n/a tuners opt to swap in a TT motor when they are ready for more power.

Re: camaro vs. 300zx

from wat i get it sounds like its gonna b hard to make a na fast n i dont like nitrious so that is not really in the picture....i would start with a turbo but i have to have the insurance break with a na...lol...im leanin toward the camaro cause it already runs mid 14s n if i spent the 2k to swap a t-56 it would b good to start and i could get it to 13's fairly easy....does that sound rite???

yep sounds good to me...

you know that you can find an n/a shell or one with a blown motor for cheap and then swap in the TT drivetrain and if you do it right it will cost less than a n/a that is in good running condition. then with the extra money you could start modding the low mileage TT motor. its all up to you...you could probably do the same with the camaro and put an LS-1 drivetrain in it.

Well you might have 90's IROC down for a specific reason, but for a solution to all this swapping. Headaches, money, etc. You could pick up a 93 Z-28 with 275 hp 6 speed for cheap as dirt, prolly about the same as the 90's iroc both is same condition, and you would have what you would want in it already without the 8 g's (your estimate) AND headaches.

If you read what was written you would know that he said:

It can do 14s with nitrous

AND

The stock bottom end is good for 100hp shot.

Actually its more like 150.

Check the "All motor" NA class: dan(pa)- 14.15@97 NJ,4/25

Or NA with nitrous: fastestna- 13.4x@103 AZ,3/20
