GTV & Spider

This heavenly beauty was released in 1995, ending a long drought of Alfa sports cars. The car is thrilling to drive, engaging the driver like a FWD shouldnt be able to. The sound from any of the engines is wonderful, the 3l V6 snarling almost like a 911. Engines include a 1.8 twin spark 16V developing 144bhp, a 2l twin spark 16V making 155bhp in revised form, a 1996cc V6 turbo pumping out 200bhp and a 3l V6 24V thrashing out 220bhp through an optional 6-speed 'box, making it the performance choice in the current Alfa Romeo line. Handling and ride are somewhat flawed but entertaining; this car is actually based on a Fiat Tipo floorpan. The GTV seats 2 with very little space in the back for 2 people, only children could really fit. The Spider is the convertible version and its body is pleasingly rigid. A friend of mine has a 2l GTV which he has tuned to develop 200bhp or so and the car really flies, handling and grip really are quite surprising. The car was facelifted slightly in '98, and despite being older than most of the competitors in its class, still offers great value in terms of what it delivers: great looks, good speed, great badge.
I posted many pics in this earlier thread , also including older GTV's.

cheers,
jay

How can u say its heavy? The 2.0 Spider weighs the same as the 2.0 Coupé, and neither of them is flabby!

It weighs 1330kg from where im reading it. Thats less than 3000lbs, less than an Audi TT, and lighter than most convertibles. Surely not that bad!
