Power Seat Mod

Has anyome tried to install heated power seats in an LS? I hate the cloth manual seats in my 02 Trailblazer. I have access to a set of heated power leather seats out of an 03 Bravada. I know everything will bolt up fine but am concerned about the electrical. Any info would be a huge help. Thanks.

I did this exact mod to my 2004 LS

Here is what you have to do....(NOTE: There were differences in the serial bus and config during the years...so they *may* not work for you)

I bolted them straight down, as the bolt pattern is the same. I had manual seats to start with, so I had to run a full set of electric to them. There are four wires, per seat, that need to be hooked up. You have a main power wire (goes to a 30A circuit breaker in the rear fuse box), a control power wire (goes to a 5 or 10A fuse in the rear box), a ground (hooked this right to a hole I drilled in the sill panel) and the serial bus wire. The serial wire I hooked into a splice pack that is (in my EXT) under the second row seats. I bought a bunch of GM terminals to plug right into the fuse box, and splice pack. I think they were series 150 and 280 style....which you can get at NAPA. In order to make everything work right, you also need the correct front door modules, so that the control for the heat works over the bus.

Here is the caveat.... I have a 2004 LS and I installed 2003 heated/memory seats. The heat works great, but the memory function does not. In 2003, each seat had it's own controller, but in 2004, they use one controller in the drivers seat, which operates both seats. Soooo....the 2003 door modules worked fine for me (the windows, locks, and the added power mirrors are all OK, as are the seat heaters), but like I said above...the memory does not. I am hesitant to bring it to the dealer for a program, as if they flash the 2003 door modules with a 2004 program, I'm not sure the seats will still function. I am going to bring it anyhow so I can see about getting the memory function to work, along with the remote keyless entry. I am DEFINATELY going to make sure they document all of the current program versions in all the modules, so if it screws up, they can go back to where it was.

I was also considering getting a Techline terminal and do the programming myself, but I can't see dropping $3K+ on one just for this (and other GM cars....but still).

I'd say just be careful with an 03 seat into an 02. I think they also changed the serial bus speed and other parameters as well, although I am not 100% sure. 02's were kind of the bastard stepchilds in a LOT of ways, with the 03-05 being pretty consistent...

I think I can get the front door modules as well. Just need to find out about the serial bus info.
