I'm looking to buy a grill guard for my 94 4Runner. Where is the best place to buy one?

Re: Grill Guard

i have a WAAG grille guard on my 97 Runner...it looks really good, but I would have to agree with the fact that in case of an accident it can cause a lot of damage, bent my bumper bad. As for where to buy...guess you just have to research...but i would definetly go for a WAAG, they also come with pre-punched holes if you want to add some fog lamps/driving lights

I have a Manik on my runner.
Lots of people will talk about the damage a guard will cause??
I just dont get it...Your getting in an accident of course there is going to be damage. I am on my second guard.
The reason being I was in the middle of Nowhere OK. and hit a patch of ice at like 3:00AM..proceeded to strike a concrete barrier and spun off the highway down a VERY deep ditch. The guard was toast and I did have some hood damageHello I jsut hit a WALL!!!) however it was not extensive. I will say the thing that makes me keep them on is that it protected the radiator and the other vital stuff. The parts that are fragile and make you vehicle go or not. While people can say it cost more $$$ to fix the damage caused by having a guard. For me it was more important to limp out of the ditch with nothing damaged that would keep me from getting down the road.

Re: Grill Guard

Tonster - Welcome to the AF!

Isn't that what a bumper is supposed to do? Protect the radiator and other vital stuff when you hit a wall, or another vehicle?

It is difficult to say what damage your truck would have suffered without the grill guard. Some people would say your truck suffered more damage with the guard than you would have without the guard. I don't think it can be proven one way or the other - unless you want to take off the grill guard and wait till you can hit the same ice at the same speed and do it all over again, then compare the damage.

IMO, they are not supported correctly to do much in the way of protecting the upper part of the truck. Since they are typically mounted on the tow hook mounting points, the top of the grill guard has no support and will bend back too easily toward the hood and lights. Only the bottom of the grill guard (where the bumper already is) is strong and stiff enough to resist impact.
