Question Switch And Shift Problem

New Member Looking For Help With A 97 Blazer.
About A Month Ago , Shifter On Floor Console
Auto-trans Started To Be Hard To Get Out Of
Park.seems To Have Something To Do With The
Safety That Won't Let You Shift From Park
Without Your Foot On The Brake.now It Has
Gotten To The Point That The Only Way You
Can Get It Out Of Park Is To Hit The Release
Button Hard With The Side Of Your Hand.
I've Seen Numerous References To The Ignition
Switch On This Model, Can This Be The Problem
Or Can It Be The Electrical Switch In The
Shifter That Unlocks The Shift Lever ?
Is There Any Way To Test Or Is It Just Trial
And Error By Replacing Parts ?
Looking Forward To Some Help , Local Parts
Houses And Chevy Dealer Has Been Almost
No Help At All.

Re: Switch And Shift Problem

The shift button on the side of the shifter could be loose and need to be retightened or changed.

That, or the brake switch is not working properly.
