passkey system fault

i got that this morning when i got my car started, i've had problems with the car starting, it just would sit there no turning over, well I talked witha mechanic after replacing the starter, battery, and ignition switch and he says its the nuetral safety switch which I need to replace, its not that much but I was a little confused when the passkey system fault showed up. The tach and speedometer is also going haywire, but thats been like that for a while and I know its a ground problem with the tranny and the harness. so i just have to go find it, but any info would help.
