for information try talking with www.ka-t.org people they would know

the t simply means turbo so the answer is just the turboing of the engine

but you would have to purchase and install a few other things to get the car running

Re: KA-T help

boostdesigns.com

go there it will give you an idea of what is involved in turboing a ka-t, my suggestion is learn alot more then turbo your car, if you dont know what is involved in turboing your car, the dont do it or else most likely you will screw things up, learn first, then do it.

yup the KA-T is a strong but picky engine. you gotta learn how to tune and maintain the engine or else it will blow.

Re: KA-T help

my plan for the past 5 or 6 months is to turbo my ka and i've learned that you have to have a ka thats in pretty damn good condition if you want it to last.. good compression, no leaks, no knocks, etc... thats all very important and expensive to fix/maintain.. there's much more to it than bolting on the turbo.. if you want it to be reliable, i'd say go for new injectors, mafs (which will also require fuel remapping), oil lines, fuel pump, maybe safc II or something like that.. its more complicated than you think at first

Re: Re: KA-T help

but that goes with any car that you add a turbo to that hasnt come like that form the factory, you have to do all the supporting mods to make the car run good for turbo, or else it will blow, then youll be screwed, so learn the basics, more fuel more air, more spark ect.. and then turbo hte ka-t

Re: KA-T help

The more power you make, the less margin for error you have. It is a rule for any engine. F.A.S.T

Fuel- gotta have the right amount of fuel for the engine, it has to be clean and it has to be the right octane
Air- gotta have the right amount of air, it has to be metered, and it has to be clean
Spark- gotta have good spark and it has to spark at the right time.
Take care of your engine- once you turbo it, you will be making about 40% more power than you were before at 6psi. That means 40% more stress on the engine. So you should put 40% more effort into taking care of it. Change the oil every 2500 miles, check sensors all the time, check the air filter to make sure its clean, and check the oil often. Gauges fall under this category as well.

I'm a first time KA-T'er and it was a great success for me. And I started on a 134K engine. But first things first, compression test your engine. It will give you a good idea of what condition its in. Good luck.

Read, read, read......
