Expedition--interior lights are staying on.

The interior lights are staying on in my 2003 Expedition. I have checked every switch and every door and cannot find the culprit. Any ideas?

Mine does that if it thinks a door is ajar. If I hit the remote lock twice and the horn goes off twice then it thinks a door is ajar. If the horn goes off once all is good.

had the same problem, sprayed the door lock assy's with wd-40, all works fine now, make sure you give all the latch assemblies a good shot
including the rear hatch/door as well.

Re: Expedition--interior lights are staying on.

After spraying with WD40 follow with SPRAY silicone lubricate or the oil in the WD40 will attract dust and you'll have the same problem.

I've had bad headlamp switches cause this problem before. Is the door ajar light on on the dash?

Yes, it is but it is not showing, plus I checked every door including the hatch and none were ajar.

This is interesting because my "clicker" has never worked consistently. I have never known if the problem was the remote lock or the receiver on the SUV. Very often we have to hit it repeatedly to get it to actually lock.
