limp mode

my mech. says the 1995 wifes car computer is in limp mode what is that ?seems to run fine

Re: limp mode

Limp mode means the ECM has seen a problem with one of the engine control sensors (the CEL is probably coming on) and the ECM is making guesses. The intent is to keep the engine running even if it means poor engine performance.
