Question Hypertech Vs. Jet Chip

which one is better? the hypertech power programmer or the jet chip computer module? i know the hypertech is more expensive but they are on ebay for cheap, and i heard also that the hypertech does like 10 hp and the jet module does 19-23 rwhp, has anyone had any experience with either of these products?

Re: Hypertech Vs. Jet Chip

Why would you pay like 3 times the amount for less horsepower?. You can get a custom tune to your exact mods and will be given option for your specific driving habits for a fraction of the cost. Check out www.pcmforless.com and www.madz28.com they are both awesome tuner and you can buy the cable to load the program yourself and have no downtime for like 40 bucks on ebay plus you can use to check codes and look at sensor feed.

if you will get more mods it will change your car setup, so yes you would need it tunned again if you want optimal performance... if you buy the program and cable to hook to your computer you can do custom tunning whenever you like however you like.... no FormulaLT1 isn't with any company... he just knows his stuff...

Both madz28($60) and pcmforless($75) have unlimited update package. They just email you a new tune to burn into eprom anytime you make a mod and no I am not trying to sell you something but have used Bryan from pcmforless on many occassions before I started making my own programs and it made a big difference. I also know that programmers are way over rated they make 5 horsepower with a very general burn and everyone is amazed. A custom burn can easily give you 20-25 horsepower. Just giving you food for thought not trying to sell you something after all if I was why would I give you two different companys.

Re: Hypertech Vs. Jet Chip

Yeah and those electric supercharger's on ebay say they are worth 75+ horsepower for 70 bucks too. It doesn't matter how much they say you can get besides they always use the term up to as a legal disclaimer. So that when you buy the programmer and upload the program and only get 2.5 horses they can say well we didn't say you were going to get 19-23 we said up to. Anyway you will see much better results from a custom burn no matter what the programmer add say's and most stock to mild LT1's see around 15 wheel horsepower from a custom pcm tune.

Re: Hypertech Vs. Jet Chip

ive been doing some research and from what i understand, this custom tune is not going to be that much cheaper. i talked to the guy at madz28 and the guy that sells the chords and im not impressed. the chords will cost anywhere from 50-80 bucks, for computer wires...??? and then another 60 bucks for the tune. then you have to have a laptop, and then you have to risk completely wiping out your computer if you lose a connection or it freezes up, which we all know computers freeze up. if i can get the module that does the same thing (basically) for another 30 bucks ill do it. the custom one sounds the best but it seems like a pain unless you just happen to be computer gooroo. im not sure yet

Re: Hypertech Vs. Jet Chip

Like I have told you. You can find cheaper cable on Ebay. I bought mine for like 35 shipped and I believe cuda paid 40 shipped .So yes AKM direct with cost alot but its not necessary. Also you don't need a laptop they recommend a laptop cause it makes it easier to get it close enough to the car to program but a PC will work. Also they warn you about freeze up but unless your running 15 programs at the same time or have been infested by virus's I wouldn't concern yourself with these things. I have burned about 20 EProm's so far and have yet to see one freeze or crash. Also custom tune and programmer tune are apples and oranges. Completely different results so don't think of it as $30 more for the same thing. And $60 for unlimited tuner at your disposal is the best deal I have ever heard of but these are just my opinion. Do whatever you feel will serve you better.

Re: Hypertech Vs. Jet Chip

what kicks me in the teeth is how much the chords are, i totally agree with the custom tune and unlimited tunes but i will definately have to find a cheaper chord, my brother has a chord that goes from obd2 (ls1) to a com port, are the obd1 and obd2 plugs the same? cause that is what he says, if so i might be ok if i can just buy the program.

So you can go to that company, and you can get your own computer programmer for your car? And if you upgrade your car, they'll send you a code for the exact code? If lost, but that sounds awesome, can someone send me the website. Oh and how much for the whole package again, only like $200 right?
