5 1/2 RACES (long post-beware)
Well, these are my first kills in a while, so it feels good to be posting them up for you all to read!
The first kill happened when I was going to the mall. I was drving on a three lane road, and there was this commercial truck in front of me. I decided to switch lanes in order to pass, and, when I got in front of the truck, i noticed that there was a silver acura cl in the lane next to me. We both stopped at a light about 200 yards down the road. The car looked stock, and i couldn't tell if it was a type-s because we were pacing eachother, and i had no idea if he wanted to race. I was so absorbed in finding out if the guy wanted to go that I didn't notice a blue honda civic that pulled up in the left lane. I was in the middle, the honda was on the left, and the acura was on the right. Considering the fact that I hadn't raced anyone is about two months, this was AWESOME! When the light turned green, I took off slowly and waited for the acura to punch it (rememebr, i was still ovblivious of the honda). About midway through first I noticed that he got on it, and i romped on the throttle. Through first, he was ahead of me by about 1/2 a car length, but by the end of second i was around 1/2 to 3/4 of a car length ahead. We kept in up until third, and by then i was a car and a quarter ahead. We stopped at the next light, and gave eachother the thumbs up. The acrua tuned right, and that's when i noticed the civic. I looked over, and i noticed that he had a set of guages on his a-pillar, and i took this to mean that he had a turbo. Two teens were in the front seats, and they never even looked over. I decided to rev, but they did nothing in return, so I was going to wait this one out too. When the light turned green, we both took off slowly due to a big street height change (road work), but once I was over the bump I punched it. The honda did too becasue I noticed his headlights pushed up. I was waaaay ahead of him all the way throught first, and then when I looked back, in second, I noticed that he was building speed. By the end of second he was about two cars back, and by the end of third we were even. At this point we were driving WAY too fast on a busy street, and if one of the light turned red we wouldn't be able to stop in time. In one of my dumbest moves yet, i kept the throttle buried. I watched as he slowly walked away from me at about 105, and I kept with it until we got to about 112 or 113. He was ahead by a good two cars lengths, but he didn't let off. The guys kept going to what I imagine was about 120-125. I stopped at a light that he blew through on red. This brings me to the next race. I made a u-turn because I had already missed the turn to the mall, and I happened to catch two silver gti vr6's (just like mine) that were going in my direction. One of them had alteza's and an exhaust, and the other had an exhaust, some type of BBS wheels, and a neuspeed sticker on the windshield. The gti w/the altezzas was driven by a TINY teenage kid, and he had one passenger. The other gti was driven by a guy who looked to be in his 20's. We each knew that we wanted to race, so the teen punched it and got around some cars in order to get to the next light. I was in the right lane, and he was in the left lane. I didn't rev up this time, but when the light turned green i smoked him. Literally, I had a car on him by the time we passed the light. We went to the next light, and the result was the same. My guess is that he either couldn't drive, or he had a tiptronic. Then, the gti w/the neuspeed sticker lined up next to me. Whn the light turned green, we couldn't punch it immediatley because there was a car still turning throught the interesection, so this race was going to be from about a 15mph roll. Once the road cleared, we got on it, and we stayed even through first and second. We were DEAD even the whole time. I gave him the thumbs up, and tuned into the mall. The last real race was on the highway heading home. I decided to skip the streets because i didn't feel like thrashing my car anymore, so i figured that I could just cruise home on the highway. I was wrong. After I merged, i noticed a blue first gen integra that flew past me. I couldn't take NOT following him, so I floored it, and tried to catch up. I got up to about a car length from his bumper (he was going aournd 90-95), and when he wouldn't speed up i passed him on the right lane going about 100. I guess he didn't like this, so he floored his car. I walked away from him at about 110, and put a good three car lengths on him by the time we reached 125. He kept going, and pulled a nice ricer fly-by, but i didn't really care. I slowed down to a nice 70mph cruise, and waited for my exit to come up. When I got off of the highway there was a silver camaro ss in front of me (bear w/me muscle car guys), so i wanted to see if i cold coaxe him into a nice going home race. I lined next to the car, and that's when i noticed it was a female driver. We were both turning left, and I had no idea if she was up for it. The light turned green, and when the road straightened i lined up next to her and floored it and let off to see if she wanted to race. On the second try i got somekind of response, but i think she only hit the throttle a 1/4 of the way down b/c i killed her. Wasn't much of a race, and I am 99% sure she wasn't racing. All in all, it was an AMAZING night. I have never had so many races in a month much less in a day. I drove home slowly, and called to schedule an oil change for the GTI For those of you who are wondering, I was racing in a 2001 gti vr6. You can find out more @ my car domain site. BTW, FORGET ABOUT CLIFF NOTES

Wow man, that's certainly a lot of action for one day. I would concur that the SS wasn't racing. She may have just gave it a shot in gear or something. Could you tell if the Civic was an Si, or did you get that much info? All in all, sounds like a good time. Nice kill on the CL especially, they're quick. I would doubt it was a Type S. Later...

thanks vip09, when do u start to pull on him? I noticed that ur trap speed is higher than mine, and ur et is waaay lower. i did that time when the car was brand new, but i still don't think i'd beat u.
for example, how long can his car keep up w/urs, and to what degree do u pull away from him. would it be like someone passing me @ 78 when im going 75? i'm wondering b/c i have never raced a celica gt-s.

Re: 5 1/2 RACES (long post-beware)
Nice kills, and outa curiosity, what do the stock GTIs run? The new ones have the 1.8t in them, right? What are the time differences between the two, I'd like to have an idea in case I go up against one of the GTIs.

Re: 5 1/2 RACES (long post-beware)
So the 1.8 GTI is the exact sme as the regular 1.8, with different wheels and a GTI Badge?

the current (2005) gti's can be had in two models:
1.8T VR6 Base Retail Price (MSRP) $19,510 $22,330 Base Invoice Price $17,827 $20,375 Engines & Power 1.8T VR6 Standard Engine 1.8L 180 hp I4 2.8L 200 hp V6 Horsepower 180 @ 5500 RPM 200 @ 6200 RPM Torque (lb-ft) 173 @ 1950 RPM 195 @ 3200 RPM Transmissions 1.8T VR6 5-speed man. 6-speed man. Peformance 1.8t VR6 0-60: 6.5 6.5-6.6 (est) 1/4 mile: 15.3 15.2-15.3 (est) these are the stats for the current models, but before 2002 the 1.8t had 150hp, and the VR6 had 174. mine is a 2001, so i only have 174hp, and 181 lb-ft. road and track did a test on a vr6 gti in 1999, and 0-60 was 6.8, and the quarter mile was 15.3 or 15.4. the older 1.8t runs o-60 in about 7.7, and the quarter in anywhere from 15.6-15.8.

well, the 1.8t is a turbo four, and the base golf is a 2.0 four. they are different, but this gen of gti is pretty much a golf w/a big motor, maybe some suspension items, and some badges w/leather. used to be more exclusive to wear the gti badge, but the next generation shoul dhelp w/that issue.
