Stalling when clutch pushed in

The problem that I'm having is with my 95 Eagle Talon; when I'm driving and push in the clutch, the RPM's will either drop below idle speed and then jump back up to the normal idle position, or they will fall to zero and the car will basically stall with the clutch still in. The car seems stall more often when the air conditioner is on. Do you have any idea what the problem could be? (regular maintance just performed: timing belt, valve cover gasket replaced, new spark plugs and spark plug wires)

Thanks for any info,
-Jon, 95 non-turbo eagle talon 5 speed manual

Stop crying crank walk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG its people like you that give the 2g elclipse a bad name!! i swear to god i know like 5 people that give the 2g NO repsect because of crank walk fears. I bet you any amount of money that he doesn't have crank walk!

i had that problem on my turbo, it was a boost leak, plugs and wires and the idle regulator setting.

since you don't have boost, and have new wires, check the idle speed regulator thingy. basily the cars not idling high enough to run. does it happened differently in colder weather? mine was only bad when it was cold. i'd reconmend taking it to a dealer and checking it out, might be that setting or could need a tune up and check the timing... also check fuel filter and air filter. when i cleaned my air filter it fixed half the problem

Re: Stalling when clutch pushed in

If you don't like the answer then don't ask the question. A: I DID NOT diagnose the problem, I simply stated it as an possible answer
B: this was taken from a tsb:
How can I tell if I have crankwalk?

Its not easy to diagnose whether or not your car has crankwalk. It can be difficult to tell if a particular car is experiencing symptoms of crankwalk. Some early warning symptoms associated with this problem are :

1. Clutch weirdness, improper pedal pressure, strange disengage and engage points
2. Ticking or strange noise from the pulley side of the engine when clutch is depressed.
3. Crank Angle Sensor errors ( check engine light )
4. Difficulty shifting
5. RPMS decreasing significantly when clutch pedal is depressed.
6. Clutch does not return or "sticks" to the floor after being depressed

PS< I missed the sig of his car being NA. That's my fault, but the problem has happened to non turbo 4g63 engines, just not as common.

Re: Stalling when clutch pushed in

his is a 95 NT which means he has a 420a motor. crankwalk is very rare on 4g63's and even rarer on other motors.

i would recommend cleaning your TB and idle speed control motor.

Re: Stalling when clutch pushed in

I'm done with this thread, he probably isn't even reading it anyway. Jezzz, the mere mention of CW put all of you in a tiz and I didn't even say that was the problem! I sincerely hope it is not, and I doubt it is anyway. After thinking about it has anyone on this problem mentioned the BISS screw(I don't know if the 2g has them but Im pretty sure they do.

Re: Stalling when clutch pushed in

2G's DONT come with a NT 4g63. Just the 420a NT or the 4g63 turbo.

BTW 1G is 90-94. 2G is 95-99. 3G is 2000-2005 and 4G will come out 2006 model year

I've got the 420a engine and I alsio thought it may have something to do with the idle regulation. (and i am reding all the comments thank you very much) I just want to thank everyone for their ideas; I am going to try some things based on what everyone left and i'll get back to you. WISH ME LUCK.

Re: Stalling when clutch pushed in

My mistake, where have I seen the 4g63 in a nt format? I could have sworn that I have seen this on 1g cars. Did Mitsubishi ever make this engine in a Eclipse in a na form?
