LS Reliability

I had an Oldsmobile Aurora, 95 model. The car, when it ran, was the best driving car overall that I have ever owned. I test drove an LS with the sports package and it is the only car that I have driven that that gives me the feeling that my Aurora did. However, looking at this forum, it looks like it has some reliablity issues and is expensive to fix. Give me some feedback on this. Thanks

Re: LS Reliability

of course everyones ownership will be different but the car is a habbituakl offender in serval areas.

Valve gover gasket leaks.
Coil on Plug failure
window regulators
headlights fog up
transmission issues ( solenoid pack and valve body)
message center phantom beep on V8

There are other that I have had but just too early to name. I will check back later after a few cups of coffee. If you have a decent savings and don't mind the risk of spending a few thousand a year in repairs this is the car for you. I love the car but for me and many others I speak with regularly reliability is a common concern.

Re: LS Reliability

valve covers did leak on the earlier models but shouldn't be a problem if already replaced by Lincoln. Coil on plug failure could be caused by leaking valve cover on the boots but you can just replace the boots( should be replaced every 60k just like wires. The other problems do happen on some but usually not on the same car and deffinately not in the same year. I have had an LS V8 for a year and only replaced the valve cover gasket but they had been leaking for a while before I bought the car.
