91' Ranger problems
SO i had my truck parked for about 5 hours then when i go to drive away...it seems the clutch dosen't even exist..i can't go in reverse becuase i hear gears griniding....you think it jsut froze..or is it totally gone?
ANd i have a really weird idling problem...when i let it idle it jumps up and down from 500 to 1000 rpm....i was told it could happen to be a vacum problem and engine is sucking ari when it shouldn't be..i ahve looked under the hood and there is a couple hoses unconnected...anyone know where i coiuld find scymnatics for these if this is trhe problem...thanks for reading! My truck is a 91 ranger 2.3 litre 2 wheel drive standard |

Re: 91' Ranger problems
Not sure if the 91 has it but my 92 has a hydrolic clutch. If there is an air bubble (as in my case after putting in a new transmission) or a leak, the clutch won't work at all like you are describing. I'm not sure where to find diagrams like you want.

Re: 91' Ranger problems
I had a 1990 ranger and yes they have a Hydro clutch. Try checking the fluid level in the reservour and then make sure that the linkage is still attached to the pedal. If both are fine then get a friend to get into the truck and push the clutch pedal while you get under tha truck. You will see on the side of the tranny there is a rubber boot looking thing, under that is the clutch fork. You can watch to see if it is moving when they push the clutch. If it is moving than you might have a problem with a throwout bearing. Check it out and let us know.

Re: Re: 91' Ranger problems
On my 93 3. liter ranger the clutch reservior is on the firewall in the engine compartment right in front of the driver. It looks like a small white plastic cup.I'm not sure if this is where yours would be.I hope this helps.
