Angry Blown Head Gasket... again

My head gasget blew about 5 months ago and I recently got it fixed in about November... I went out tongiht and when I get about 10 minutes from home it starts to overheat and i turn around and come back home and open the hood... and antifreeze everywhere.... same thing happened before I got it fixed.... cost $1,033.66 to get it fixed the first time... what a freakin rip off.....

what all did you fix the first time, I hope you didn't just replace the head gasket without fixing whatever made it overheat in the first place.

When it was replaced, did you have the block and head(s) checked for whether or not they are flat? They might be warped and need to be decked.

Sorry man. i had the same problem. Got it fixed. And was told to go easy on it for 1000 miles. Don't have any problems. Now it runs better than it did when i got it.

Re: Blown Head Gasket... again

I'm about the have my head gaskets replaced, in a couple of weeks. Is there any advice that I need to know? Anything I need to tell them to check? Anything I shouldn't do when I get it back?

I hope I don't have to go easy for 1000 miles, that's a lot of miles in a Camaro when you can't punch the gas.

Re: Blown Head Gasket... again

Why don't you do it yourself and save $900? That way you can also check other things liek fi the deck is flat and what might be causing the overheating and such, cause if you tell a shop you want your head gasket replaced, most of them will do just that, no more.

I got my bill from the shop today and it happened to be the expansion plug...... therefore it was not covered in the warrenty from December..... So that really sucked.... cost about $140.....

Doing it yourself would be fun!!!!!!

you got to drop the engine, then take everything apart, then raplace and put it back together again, then you got to get the engine back into the car, then you'll be done. If you don't have a shop with a lift, you need to take the heads of with the engine in the car. And thats no easy. So have fun with that one

but seriously their are several things that can go bad
