A twin turbo inline six. and the looks whell I don't really have to say more than that. this was a real machine. can some one please tell my why this amazing car was replased by the fuckin' G35??? what the fuck was nissan thinking. the G35 is a nice car, but it's no fuckin' skyline. this is a car that is known by all to be sick. NOW... it's been turned in to a fuckin' mid-life, my hair is falling out, my wife won't blow me, and my kids hate me car. and who the hell said "hey every one wants faster, more powerful cars, lets take this beast of a motor and scrap it for a 3.5L maxima motor" I say Fuck that, nissan you fucked up big.

Re: The new Skyline... lots of bad words kids

agreed. Every generation of skyline should now have an RB motor. The prime era of the R-32 to the R34 will be remembered, up to and beyond 100 years from now

Nissan claimed 276hp from the R32-R34 GT-R's. However, the R34 GT-Rs were actually closer to about 300whp. The RB26DETTs are capable of producing 1300+hp. I've heard that with a few bolt-ons and stuff, you'll be producing 600hp easily. So yeah, I consider the RB26DETT to be one of Japan's best engines, along with the 3S-GTE, 2JZ-GTE, the 13B rotary, and the SR20DET.

actually what i heard is nissan is debating still on the altima motor(v-6 twin turbo slapping out 400+ horses and 450 lb of torque)or (v-8 with 400+and 400 lb of torque) but it leaning more towards the v-6 I read this in scc

Re: The new Skyline... lots of bad words kids

They dropped the RB series because of emissions. Same with the SR20.

They're following a new design philosophy...the Z33, V35 and the Maxima are all pretty similar. (and I believe, all based off the same floorplan)

If you're this upset about a car maker moving with the times then you need to get out more, IMO.

At the moment, NO ONE knows what engine is going in the new GT-R, but the most common train of thought seems to be a twin turbo V6 (as run in the JGTC cars but 3.5 instead of 3 litres)

OMG this is one the funniest posts I've seen

So let’s break this down shall we:

The skylines were regular cars in several trims. The only skyline with the Rb26 was the GTR trim. Same goes for the new skyline aka G35, the only trim available is the base one.

However they are building a GTR version of the new skyline (G35) and that will be the replacement of the RB26 GTR Skylines. Plus the new GTR will be available to the entire world as a bonus and it is rumored to have either a TT version of a reinforced VQ35 (one of the best V6s out there) tuned by cossworth nonetheless, or a V8. My money is on the TT. Furthermore the suspension supposedly is tuned by lotus and the turbos might be a new type of garret model with an electric assist antilag. So all in all it should spank the old GTR.

So before you start being all pissed off at the world or Nissan do your homework.

Oh and your comment about the RB26 being the "GOD" of all motors...hmmm what can I say, you might want look up in the dictionary what polar momentum is and how it applies to racing, before you make comments like that.

PS. If the members we have here living in Japan see this, my post will seem mild.

Neutrino pretty much nailed it. The vast majority of Skylines sold were not GTRs. There's a MASSIVE gap in performance between a R33 GTR and ,say, a GTS4. Personally I see the move from RB to VQ in run of the mill Skylines as a good thing. And noone knows what the new GT-R will have yet but rest assured it won't be slow =).

After all Nissan isn't Holden or Ford, they don't use the same engine for decades hoping the world of progress would stand still and wait for them

I agree with that one. Ford has been using the Duratec 3.0 for almost 10 years now. It just isn't able to keep up with the times. A 3.0L V6 only make 203 hp, while the other manufacturers V6s make at least 240.

Yeah maybe that dude went off on a crazy rant, but I agree the past Skyline R34 looks alot better than the G35.
