Parking lights Inop

Have a 97 4WD 7.4L Suburban, my problem is this, the tailights do not work, but the B-Up lights work, the brakelights work, and the turn signals work. Just not the parking lights, the front lights turn on when the switch is turned on just not the rear, all fuses are good, bulbs are good continuity from the switch connector to rear of truck is good, i have been able to jump the connecter with switch removed and I can get the front parking lights to come on but I cannot get the rear ones to come on. Is there a possiblity that I am not getting voltage to the wire for the rear (I think its purple, but I could be wrong) or could it just be a defective switch? Any help would be appreciated

Re: Parking lights Inop

look on autozone.com for your vehicle in the online repai manual, you may have to register first. find out which color of wire is for the park lights trace down a break or short in that line and do not forget to check the grounds alot of times its as simple as that. if its not in the line and the bulbs r all good jump 12 volts to the line and make sure the circuit is grounded to verify that that the switch is not working

Re: Parking lights Inop

Howdy: This is out of my '98 C/K Service Manual.
Connector C-104 is located in the engine compt at the firewall below the master cylinder. It feeds the tail lights(brown) & stop lights(Yellow=LR)(Dark Green=RR). Also a white wire for stop switch output. Take C-104 apart and check for power on the brown wire w/lights on. If you've got it check continuity back to the tail lights. Hope this helps...........Steve
