Re: Pimp my Ride....

4-6 inches? is this for show? If so an airbag suspension would probably be the best. If not you could go with a coil over setup.

Re: Pimp my Ride....

The wheel gap isn't anywhere near 6"... I reccomend looking into intrax since they have the largest drop (1.5-1.75") among the name brands I know of. Please don't go rice.

Hmm, would lowering it a little bit to reduce wheel gap acutally be considered "going rice"? I just thought it'd look better a little lower, and would prob help with aerodynamics..... I'm open to all thoughts tho, keep em comin, thanks ^_^

Re: Pimp my Ride....

i wouldnt do more than a 2-1/2 inch drop.. i think u can pull off a 3 inch drop with some coil overs. the wheel gap on these cars is only 3 inches

It was the huge lowering you said you wanted and the horn thing that made me think rice (honestly do you use your horn enough to justify geting a vanity one?). Just don't go past about 3" and it should still look and handle sharply, the areodynamics are not what people do it for but your right in that lowering it will help by creating more downforce due to restricted airflow under the car and the same airflow over the car, you can get a similar effect by geting sideskirts and a front bumper that are 'taller'.

your best bet are the ground controls from www.3sxperformance.com
bear in mind though, when you lower the rear anymore then 1 inch, it will set your rear camber off and you will wear out your rear tires very quickly. To get around this, you will have to buy and install adjustable control arms that 3sx also sells, or some local board members from 3si might sell as well.

Hotshot, is it necessary to get the adjustable control arms? can't you just get the rear tires re-aligned at an alignment shop?

Wow, this is tons of information, and exactly what I was looking for. The 6 inch drop is way too much, I went and looked again, I think 6 was a close random number that I just typed tho.... Thanks to everyone who gave their info, you people are the ones who make this forum so great. I'm thinking only a 1.5 inch drop or so will look good. Putting side skirts on it wouldn't work to rid wheel gap. As far as the rear tires wearing out, is there any way besides those bars to prevent that? An alignment job was mentioned, will that not suffice? I gotta new avatar, took that pic last night with my phone...
