HKS SSQV Bov on an RS-T

Anyone have this BOV on their RS? I am looking to get it because it sounds nice and doesn't seem to leek like the 3000gt one I have. I'm pushing 6 psi right now and I want to know if it still sounds as good as this:

Re: HKS SSQV Bov on an RS-T

I do... I like it cause it doesnt leak at all what so ever. I have a greddy type S on my GST and I also like that but there are pros and cons to both of them. There is a thread comparing them both and has quite a bit of info in it, do a search and see if you can find it.

EDIT: I'm bored so I found you the link... here: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...highlight=SSQV

Yes... Just like I built and turboed my 97 RS = RST. There for why my name is the way it is.

There is also a Laser RS that is turboed and some people call it an RST.

Hey jake at what setting should the type s be put at. Tight or soft? i think i read that tight is when your going racing and stuff and soft is just for daily driving.

Re: HKS SSQV Bov on an RS-T

Keep it soft for daily driving cause it opens quicker releasing the excess pressure and doesnt put a lot of back pressure on the turbo, therefor your turbo lasts longer.

While racing you want to keep most of that boost pressure in the system cause you are shifing faster and trying to make as much power as you can so you want the BOV to open less.

The harder you have the BOV set, the more vacuum it needs to pull it open. So when you have it set to soft it opens fasts with very little vacuum.

Another thing... In the winter, if you live in a cold area, the Type S BOV tends to fail in cold weather. So you should have the BOV set as soft as possible right now or you could risk your BOV failing and possibly ruining your turbo. Just a thought!

how cold would it need to be to do that? the coldest it ever gets over here is like 30F and that passed already i think.

Re: HKS SSQV Bov on an RS-T

A lot of people were having troubles with them right around 10 degrees and below. Although it has been right around -5 during the day and -25 at night here, I have yet to have a problem with mine. Just thought I would let people know incase anyone else had the same problem.

Yes, I leak tested it to 35psi. Havent had a leak out of it yet. Now at a mere 23psi that I am running I know its not going to leak!
