Re: posi track Vs. limited slip

Posi will always spin both tires, so it's better for 1/4 mile racing type thing but it'll sometimes try pushing your car straight while driving on slipery surfaces.

Limited slip will let you turn but it won't always let you spin both tires when needed.

For most everyday driving Limited

sorry my computers acting up.

For everyday driving Limited Slip is the better choice just because it handles so much better

Re: posi track Vs. limited slip

well thanks for your input... but that wasnt really what i was looking for..i just want to know what each does... i was under the impression that posi allowed both tires to spin freely and limited slip only allow one to spin...i had one guy tell me that posi causes one tire to spin forward and the other to spin he opposite direction in order to keep traction...

Re: posi track Vs. limited slip

How can I put this nicely... That guy was not very smart. You'd never go any where then. Although you could sure do Killer smoke shows.

They'll both spin both tires, and they are both really good for traction.

An OPEN rear end will spin the tire with no traction, and leave you stuck with 1 tire on perfect, dry pavement.

Most S-10's came with Open rear ends, but Posi was listed as an option with my Blazer (and probably all years of S-10's)

the safest way to see if you have posi is stop where 1 tire is on some ice, or in a mud puddle (preferably on a small hill, so you can back off the ice) and accelerate like you would on dry roads. If you don't go anywhere you have an open rear end.
