no low speed on blower

My '99' intrigue's blower motor won't work on low setting. It works on all other settings. It had been making a rubbing noise on low for a while but when it was turned up the noise went away. After it quit running on low I removed the motor, took it apart, and greased the bushings - no more noise but it still won't work on low. Any ideas?

GM had a problem with the fan resistors burning out on some of their late model cars. They designed a new part for it. My problem was it would work on the high setting but not at all on the others. The resister assembly is to the left of the fan motor up against the firewall inside of the ductwork. You will probably have to lie upside down for this. I ended up having to leave one of the screws out when I put it back in because it is so close to the firewall.

Re: no low speed on blower

How much does this new part work. It seems like my car has the same issue; it's making the squeeking noise on low, but there is acually heat output so it sounds like my fan resister is going to go.

Seems like were getting a lot of HVAC problems lately, eh?

You wouldn't happen to know the part # of the new resistor?

The reciept is in my tool box. I got the resistor from the GM dealer. They should know what it is. It is a pretty common problem
