I have a servere problem with my 89 accord. when I take off from a red light and get to a decent rpms after 10 or 15 seconds the car will die, it feels like there is no gas anymore, all power is gone. When I downshift it will start, or when i turn off the the car it will be ok. But once I take off again after a few seconds the car wil die. I have heard something about EGR? What is EGR and where is it located, can it be replaced? Is this related to a fuel problem, or is it more an electrical issue? bad plugs or compression? Is it just a simple tune up issue? please advise Thanks.

Ive located the EGR, and also found out that it cost $198.00 to replace. Does anybody else have this problem?

Re: Hesitation - sturders no power aft take off
Are you getting any check engine lights, because I wouldn't just start replacing random $200 parts without knowing a bit more. If you get any CELs, pull the codes from the ECU, which will lead you to the source of your problem.
As far as us helping you, we could use some more information. Is your car manual or auto, does it do this in every gear or just one...approximately what rpms does this occur at. 10-15 seconds doesn't really tell us too much, becuase we don't know how fast you accelerate.
