Warped brake rotor??

Alright so now (since yesterday) my front left brakes seem to squeel but not a solid squeel, something more like a rotating squeel, louder then softer, and i have not a clue what happened to it. It started after some dumbass cut me off, saw i was close to his bumper and hit the brakes, i didn't lock up or even brake that hard, but thats when i noticed it started happening. the weather has been really cold (around 15 degrees fahrenheit) and i'll go through occasional sluch puddles but i'm wondering if maybe the rotor is warped or if thats a possibility since i only have 10k miles on my car

thanks

Re: Warped brake rotor??

if im not mistaken, hot metal has a tendancy to warp, or become brittle when it it is suddenly cooled. so .......

Re: Warped brake rotor??

It only costs like $10 to get the rotors turned if you take them in. Its a well worth investment!

There is no way that ice will be on your rotor, even under the mildest stop, your rotors get warm. If they are newer rotors, and were broken in properly, warping shouldnt be an issue, and you would be able to feel it in the pedal and your steering wheel would shake under braking. But, a small rock from a slush puddle would make sense. you might not even have to take the whole unit apart, just get some hot water (since its cold out), and flush the caliper with it...it might clear it...if not then take it apart and check.

Re: Warped brake rotor??

haven't had free time to check it yet, but its pissing me off i've just been turning up the music and ignoring it and downshifting mroe to slow down than braking

btw i heard something about "retreading" the tires anyone got an estimate price on that, the flat spot is kickin' my butt on the highway

Dude, if you have a flat spot its cause your tire is out of ballance. I doubt you will want to retread that because the flat spot on your tire will have less rubber after retreading than the other part of it. I would say if you are short on cash buy 2 tires (fronts probably) and make sure they are ballanced good.

Re: Warped brake rotor??

i was wanting to buy a couple sumitomo tires (cheap and good performance) but i'll have to see how much the tax return is before i can make any committments and i'm still waiting on my W-2's but that is a good plan and i'll try to scrape my money to get some
