Speedometer Questions

Hi, i have a 1990 olds eighty eight royale with the analog speedometer, gas guage, and tripometer. The rest are idiot lights. My speedometer use to come on and off and now it does not work at all. I am not to smart on cars but i was trying to find the thing that goes into the tranny that tells how fast the car is going and i think i found it. Is it a plastic piece with four wires in it that goes in the top right? Because when i push it in hard it starts to work and when i pulled it out a little it stopped working. Then i tried a few times to get it working again and after a few attempts it started working again.

so am i looking at the right thing?? The plastic piece on the top right with 4 wires goin in?

Ok thanks to you guys i found out that my speedo was just getting a bad connection. When i proceeded to take it out i noticed that when i had the accesory on and when i started to pull it out the lights turned off. So, then i took it for a drive and noticed that when i pushed the speedo in it worked and when i pulled it out slightly it stopped working. So now i have it all put back in and it works.
