1993 Buick LaSabre 130,000 miles - original plugs
Is there any advantage to the $6 Bosch platinum +4 plugs over the $ 1.89 AC -Delco 41-601 ? |

Re: spark plugs
I once bought a 95' 3800 with 65000 and decided to change the factory plugs, when asked if i would like to put platinum plugs in I replied no thank you because the originals gave this car 65000 miles with no problem so why would I want change, anyhow it was not equipped with platinum plugs to begin with.the car was totalled in a wreck with 128,000 and ran perfect, your decision.I would suggest that when replacing plugs in a GM product, use Delco parts only.

Sorry but,Bosch +4s are junk. They might only make 20 different types of plugs and what fits in your car might also fit in 60 different makes & models of other cars. They are not the the correct heat range and wount last as long as the AC-Delco.If you are wanting to go with a long life plug and your thinking about platinum,id go with the AC-Delco 41-940,which is the platinum replacment for your car.

Re: spark plugs
I must agree that the Bosch +4's are not very good.

Re: spark plugs
I also agree. In my years of working in various auto parts stores, I can tell you we had very few problems with people who bought the AC Delco for their GM car vs. all other aftermarket plugs. As one of the GM salespeople told me, "GM puts millions of dollars of research into their parts to make sure they work properly in our vehicles and give us the fewest of problems, with optimal performance." Make sure, before you install your plugs to recheck the gap and use anti-seize on the threads.

I’ve been running a set of $2 Autolite Platinums (AP605) in my ’89 LeSabre for over 37,000 miles and they’ve worked great. Since they’re overdue I decided to switch over to some standard ACDelco plugs (R45LTS6). The gap needs to be set to .060” and I thought the gap was supposed to be already set to that or at least close. When I checked them with a taper gap gauge they all had random gaps between 0.065” and 0.069”. Is this normal?? It looks like I’m going to need to regap every one of them. Should I go ahead and adjust all of them to .060”? . . . .Or is something wrong with these plugs and I should return them?
Thanks! |
