Question Bought used 2000 beetle-help!

I just bought a used 2000 new beetle a few hours ago and after driving 4.6 miles from the dealer, the temp light went on! Also has a whine-y sound coming from engine when I start it (it happened at the dealer after they washed it and I was told the belt was a little wet...). It seems to struggle to get into second. PLEASE someone help me tonight! I need to take it back to dealer tomorrow & I need to know what to ask them....thanks! It has 22000 miles and is Gl model.

Sounds like a waterpump. If the temp light comes on only when accellerating after it warms up. The whining noise is coming from the broken water pump impeller causing extra strain on the timing belt.

Thank you so much for replying ! It's now at the dealers and they said they needed to replace the water pump and the starter! You are awesome!
