Most disappointing youve ever seen?
So we have a thread for worst movie, but how about: whats the movie you had anticipated more than any, but were completely let down with the result? Be it a movie that looked scary and wasnt, or funny and wasnt.
My vote is a tie for The Village or Darkness. Any others people should be aware of?

Re: Most disappointing movie you've ever seen?
The Village wins! By watching the previews I didn't know what to expect but it looked awesome. I had high hopes! Then I went to see it...
Heres what killed me. As soon as it begin I was never convienced that the movie setting was supposed to be set in past. I thought I was watching present day Omish folk or the like. So right off the bat, the movies ending twist was ruined for me. I didn't even realize that I was suppose to think that the movie was set in the past until a friend of mine says to me, "I wonder what time period they're in." I remember telling him its set in the present and told him,"Watch, the blind girl is come to the road and get hit by Celica". So when we discover the monsters aren't real I was wondering why the hell am I still watching this movie. Whats next? I fucking hate the Village.

what does the time period really matter in The Village? Nothing, because Shymalan was simply trying to portray an ideal society, and the necessary fear to keep it functioning. It was fascinating for me, the mystery of this village and the people living within it. There were many questions raised, like the origins of the elders, the black secrets they kept, and the creatures in the woods. And you only get small answers at a time, which further added to the suspence. The ending was pretty stupid though, just because he went way too obvious with it. I would have been happy if it ended when the blind chick killed the retarded guy. You have to admit that the forest scenes were pretty creepy, and the suspence leading up to it.
Worst movie ever? hardly, I think you're over-reacting because the movie embarrased you for feeling scared.

Ummm yeah, the time period has everything to do with the Village. Drama, Romance, Science Fiction/Fantasy and Thriller 2 hrs. 00 min. Set in rural Pennsylvania in 1897, this is the story of the small village of Covington (population 60) surrounded by a woods inhabited by a race of "mythical creatures," and the romance that blossoms between Kitty (Greer), the daughter of the town's leader (Hurt), and Lucius (Phoenix), a young man who questions the policy of keeping Covington's citizens completely confined to the village. http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&cf=info&id=1808488393 The audience was suppose to believe the movie was set in the past. Then the twist came at the end when the audience discovers that its present day and these people have isloated themselves inside a wild life perserve. And whats with this statement, "I think you're over-reacting because the movie embarrased you for feeling scared". Hey bucko, I watched the movie with the high hopes of being scared. I wanted to jump. I wanted to be surprized. I wanted to screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeam!!!! This piece of shit movie did neither. I got excited when the "monsters" showed themselves but finding out 30 minutes later that they were fake ended that. Trust me, I am not the only one who hates this movie. I love me a good horror/thriller/suspense/etc flick. Always have and always will. Worst movie of 2004 goes to.... :::drum roll:::.....The Village!

Most disappointing for me was Eternal Sunshine. I enjoyed it very much, but I was expecting so much better from both Charlie Kaufman and Michael Gondry. Oh well.

Anybody who went into The Village thinking it was gonna blood and gore with people dying is an idiot. M. Knight Shyamalan's movies are never like that and they never will be. The Village had great visuals, the music was downright stellar, and I loved the story line. The Village most over-rated movie of the year? Quite the opposite.
Saw, now THAT movie was a piece of shit. Fucking horrible.

Day After Tomorrow was an upset for me, had huge expectations with all the hype.

Re: Most disappointing movie you've ever seen?
I just saw "Darkness" and I'd have to say it was very strange. The good guys die in the end. It's just plain weird - cause it defies the usual plots of most movies. My friend whos in some film class said they have a name for that type of a movie, but I don't remember it. It was just really friggin weird.

Re: Most disappointing movie you've ever seen?
1. Day After Tomorrow
2. The Village I just rented "The Village" this weekend. ( I'm glad I paid only $1.50 to rent it instead of $20.00 to see it at the theater.) I hated it !!! I figured out the "twist" half way thru the movie !!! He should have stopped at the "Sixth Sense"; everyone after that sucked !!!
