Need someone with a 94 4.0L attention.

I need some of you out there who has 93/94 4.0L in there ZJ or XJ, to check out the placement of the Rotor with the #1 piston at TDC on the compression stroke.

let me know if the Rotor is exactly on #1 (on the cap) or slightly behind or what?

thanx fellas.

My 93 XJ 4.0 is just about dead on #1 on the cap. If you are setting the Dist. it wont always go exactly to # 1 it might be a little off do to the oil pump. You will be able to tell if you got it right when it is set in.

Re: Need someone with a 94 4.0L attention.

thanks Cam, I am trying to help someone with there distributor problem. He took his distributor off to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor, and he thought he marked eveything, well anyways he got it all put back together and now he says it idles but won't go above 1000 rpms, I don't think it's a timing problem, but he wanted to be exact on the location of the rotor.

thanx Cam.

OK I will have hi try that.

You had the same problem with it idling but won't go above 1000 RPMs?

Sounds like its a tooth out. Go to TDC on #1 and check the Dist position on the cap. If it isnt right on #1 it is out a tooth.

Re: Need someone with a 94 4.0L attention.

he said when it's at TDC (on the compression stroke) it's exacly on the #1 Cylinder on the cap (he wanted to be sure it didn't have to be behind the #1 or what. I told him to pull it and turn the rotor back one tooth, I am awaiting his response.
