96 windstar (wont start)

Hi - my van wont start - id drove it to work and got a code, (1537)
manifold runner control open- could this problem be the cause of my no start. It turns over , lots of power. Its just not catching at all not even a sign it wants to start. Any suggestions

Your model (3.8?) uses two pneumatic actuators to move the intake manifold runners. If either, of both, of these actuators have a broken diaphragm... it might be enough of a leak to keep you from starting. That would be a big leak! But it's worth checking out .... just plug the hoses for a temp test.
