I have a 94 Caravan, and earlier today I left the gas station, sped up kind of fast and I threw a rod. Taps like crazy now. Any idea how much that would cost to fix? And do I need a new motor or can they just put in a new rod and Ill be set?

Re: Bad Engine
Sorry to inform you, but you are looking at an engine rebuild/replacement. Nobody pulls an engine out, takes it apart does one cylinder.
Rebuilt engines run in the $2000 range. You could also check into the cost of obtaining an engine with low miles from a salvage yard and then finding a local garage that could flip it in for you. That usually runs in the $1500 range. Either way, it probably isn't worth it with a 10 year old car. |
