Re: race tranny

There are no race trannys for 3s's. Stock is as strong as it gets.

team rip engineering (www.teamrip.com) DID at one time service, rebuild, and upgrade the VR4 trannys. however, they no longer offer those services for the VR4 trannys b/c there are parts, such as synchros, that are very hard to get ahold of which are necessary for rebuilds. However, i wouldn't give up so fast. Contact Team Rip and see what options you have. I'm just throwing this out there, but MAYBE if you got the hard-to-find parts together and shipped them to Team Rip, the MIGHT be able to accomodate you. just my

Hey linebcker, I think you told me one time that if you take your 3/s into RIPP, they'll put on shorter gears for your car or somthing, and that it helps with gas mileage among other things... do they still do that stuff or what's the deal???

Rocker, let me clarify. Team Rip Engineering (www.teamrip.com) is the company that makes taller 5th gears for the NA 3/S's. Yes, by installation of a taller 5th gear, your engine speed will be decreased when in 5th gear, and you will increase your gas mileage. Please do not confuse Team Rip Engineering with RIPP Modifications (www.rippmods.com). RIPP is currently producing the SDS kits for the 3/S DOHC cars. ONLY Team Rip sells the taller 5th gear.
