Sedona versus Caravan Tranny Problems

I'm a '96 Dodge Grand Caravan LE (GC) owner and I've had it with Dodge. I've been through three transmissions including the one that came with my GC when I bought it new. Enough is enough. I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it up the tailpipe anymore.

Here's the thing... I'm going to look at Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Kia this time around and I am just wondering if Sedona suffer from the same transmission failures that I have had on average every 68,000 miles or 3 years, whichever comes first.

I'm sick and tired of replacing transmissions at $2,600 a pop every three years. Would anyone care to speculate whether or not I might do better with a Kia? Got an opinion? I'd love to hear what you have to say.

well i drove a 2002 sedona for a year and i beat the **** outta it for that year from racing etc....i still have it its my winter vehicle since my monte carlo is my summer fall and spring vehicle....the sedone is still running strong with 60k on the clock...and trust me when i say beat, it was beat lol o-

heat is the #1 killer... soo consider adding a sepearate aftermarket trans oil cooler (if it didn't come stock) than the ones originally plumbed into the small tank of the radiator.

annual change of the fluid (& filter, if accessible) would prolong the trans.

Just traded in our 94 Caravan for a 2005 Sedona. the caravan had 89,000 miles on it. the doors were rusted on the bottom, the hoods clearcoat was faded, the A/C compressor was shot, and the tranny was on the way out, so we figured it was time.
Headless, I dont know how you managed the patience to go through 3 trannys. I would've shot it after the second one!!! lol. Anyhow, so far we're real happy with the Sedona. We checked the Sedonas ratings before we bought it, and thought it was a good buy. My only gripe is the headrests on the rear seat block the view when we're backing up. We may just remove them for now. Also having a car payment again. Uugh!! Oh well It's nice having a nice vehicle. Plus the warranty cant be beat. Hopefully we won't have to use it too much.

Flush the trans regularly 30k intervals. The trans uses SP3 fluid not Dextron.

It will last but MUST be maintained.

Hi, my cousin has an 02 sedona and it is the biggest heap they ever had to pay for. It is a good thing they have that warranty because you need it. The car has been in the shop more than on the street. Now they are over 100,000 miles so they get to throw it away because it is not worth paying to fix.
