1997 Jetta GLX Airbags

Hi, some help please in what is necessary to replace the blown bags. I have the old ones out.. Do I need to buy a new module or just reinstall new bags ? Clock spring seems to be just the connection through the column shouldnt be an isue right ?? Can I test before actually screwing anything up ??
