tranmission troubles

Hello,
I had the same problem with my 1997 Windstar. I took it to a local transmission shop after changing the VSS sensor, which Auto Zone said was bad that did'nt work. The transmission shop charged me 137.03 to change the MLP/TR sensor. Now my transmission works fine with 165,000 miles on it. By the way this sensor tells the transmission what gear it is in. Hopes this helps.

The switch is called many things.TRS- transmission range sensor-"PRINDLE"meaning park, reverse neutral, drive,& low.MLP-manual lever position sensor.
Before replacing check plug for corrosion.
Be sure to report back.
