Horn

My daughters 2000 cavalier's horn quit working. There is a clicking under the dash. Is this a relay? If so will this solve the problem? thanks.

Re: Horn

that would be the relay - but being a newer car the relay shouldnt of went on it unless the person was a frantic horn user - city driving or something - did u check the conection on the horn itself - make sure that it was still wired ?

have a 2000 cav...my horn is dead too. The fuse is fine, the relay is fine. THe relay in my car is located on the drivers side of the car, under the left side of the dash. It is a small black rectangular piece. Mine was taped with electrical tape to a small bundle of wire. You have to look for it, but it is there. Oh, if you need another, don't bother with any auto parts stores, they wont have it, just go to a GM dealer, Its about $5. But, if it is clicking, most likely the relay is good and something else is wrong. I replaced my relay, but it did not fix the problem. SInce the relay clikcs, that means the horn button on the stearing wheel works, so that leaves only the horn. THe horn is located on the right side, behind the bumper, IF you crawl under the car on that side you will be able to see it. Good luck!

9 times out of 10 it is the horn itself and yes it is usually caused by water entering the horn. just use a 12 volt testlight at the horn connector if it lights up when u hit the horn button the replace the horn
