My exterior door handle broke I have a 1994 2dr Euro it is the verticle lever kind. I called a local dealer and they said $180 to buy the part I double checked in case they miss understood me they said that is whats listed for over the conter part not installed. junk yards in my area do not want to seperate from a whole door the few smashed doors had broken handles. Where do I find one and how much should it be ? anyone seen them in local napa, autozone, advance auto parts or places like that ? Thanks for all replies !!

The local junk yard in my area sells brand new handles for around $80.00. I had to buy one last year so I guess the price is still the same. Hope you can find one.

Hey there I just had to buy new exterior handles myself. Try www.raco.com I got 2 for my '92 z34 $42ea. (Canadian $) By any chance have you figured out how to adjust the locks? or how the linkage inside the door works?

the junkyards sell aftermarket door handles for $50. now everyone knows how much aftermarket parts suck, and i ran into a HUGE problem installing mine... i forgot to adjust the clip that you can turn around the threads. i had it so that the linkage rod was pulling up from the latch, preventing the door from actually unlocking and opening. i forgot to check everything, i shut the door, and couldnt open it. i couldnt even unlock it or open it from the inside at all, so make sure you check that the lock slider can move back and forth and the lock cylinder doesnt get stuck when you turn it, and make adjustments if necessary.

I've replaced both on my 94 Z34. I got them both by searching on www.car-parts.com. About $50 delivered. A lot of them are brand new, which tells me they are probably after market. I suspect there is a high failure rate. They are easy to adjust. After you get it connected up, make sure the rod has plenty of downward movement. I used a screw driver to simulate the latch prior to shutting the door. This way I can check that it will release the lock and allow the hinge to release.
PS - lustofdecay - how did you get your door open? |
