Duplicolor paint-how long should I wait to polish?

I just painted my first diecast with dark green Duplicolor paint. Has some imperfections in it and was wondering how long I should wait before I used rubbing compound or swirl remover on it. Also, if I use one of these, will it leave a "wax" coat on it that might ruin a clear coat ? Thanks!!!!

Awhile. It depends how much you applied, and the type of paint (i.e. enamel or acrylic). I say wait a week.

Ok, so if I wait a while, then do it, will it leave a "wax" residue that will affect the final clear coat?

Don't wax until after your finial clear. Because paint won't stick to wax. See, what wax does (besides shine up the paint a bit) is put a protective coat on the paint which well....protects that paint.

I know all that about wax, but I'm trying to find out if rubbing compuond or swirl remover leaves a "non-stick" coating like wax? Thanks!

Most do not leave a coating. I know Tamiya doesnt, nor does Novus #2, and a few others.
