1993 Golf Mk3 GTI, Wont START!
Ok, heres the deal...
The car has been running 100% ever since ive owned it, the ONLY problem I ever had was in the morning when I started the car up and drove up my driveway, it would hesitate a little bit, and thats about it. I took the car to the gas station recently to fill it up, it had half a tank of gas already. After having the car filled it, I tried to start it... and all it would do is turn over... Its turning over with a slight whining sound but really faint and that is it... its not even coming close to trying to actually start only turning over.
So I got to troubleshooting it with a multimeter because I figured it was either fuel or spark problem. I pulled the fuel line off of the engine and tried starting it, and fuel started pooring out nicely, so I figure the fuel pumps are running fine, then I pulled a spark plug off of the block and held it against the block and tried starting... no spark. So I busted out the multimeter and started shooting.... the the center cable is providing 10-11v's to the distributer cap, So I tried replacing the cap, and the rotor just for kicks... but still doesnt work, same exact problem... I read alot about bad relays, but why would the center cable be providing the voltage to the cap if it was a bad relay or wire?
any ideas?
