Difference between SE, LX, GL, SHO?
Hello,
More often than not, when I go to an auto parts store or look for information online about my 1998 Taurus SE Wagon, I need to provide some information about the vehicle. Invariably the computer systems provide choices for Taurus LX, GL, and SHO, but no SE! I know I don't have the SHO, but which is closer to the SE: the LX or GL? Which should I choose when faced with this choice? Thanks! |

The letters are for different trim packages/drive train package. My own translation is (SE=Special Edition, LX= LuXury, GL=Ground Level).
The closest to your SE would probably be the LX, but Tauruses have two different V6s, so the biggest of differences is probably if you have the Duratec or Vulcan V6. As far as for the SHO it has a V8 High Output. Hope this helps a little. |

I would put LX if you have a duratec, since the Duratec was optional in the LX while all GL's had Vulcans
