2000 Ranger 4x4 air bag light flashing
I have a 2000 ford ranger xlt 4x4. I put in new instirment panel lights today, and when I got done, the air bag light flashes 2 times then 7 times! I tried unhooking battery, taking out the fuses for airbag, nothing works to clear it. Also, I tried to use my key to turn off the passinger bag, normally the OFF light appears, now no light! Can anyone tell me how to clear this light. Or should I just remove the bulb and rely on my seat belts....thanks, Dave in Missouri

My 2002 Ranger Air bag light coms on time to time blinking and sometimes stays on for a few seconds too. I talked with a mechanic at the Ford dealership and he told me that a censor may have went out or it may just have to be Reset kinda like a reminder to make sure everythings working properly. I asked him if the air bag could deploy because of this and he said no. He said if your air bag light comes on then it won't deploy if your in an accident.

Ranger Airbag Code 27
Hello there. I have had this problem before on my 2002 RANGER. IT IS AN EASY FIX. If you look carefully, there is a switch which you could use to turn OFF the passenger airbag. Turn that switch to the OFF position and turn on the ignition key. There is an LED bulb inside that should light up on that switch indicating that the passenger airbag is off. If that light bulb does not come on, you have detected your problem. This will usually set on the airbag code 27 which is what you have. If you are good with a soldering iron, it is an easy fix. remove the switch and open it up and replace the LED bulb with a new one from radio shack. GOOD LUCK!!!
