Hey, Im new here but im gonna give it a try.
I have a 1992 Camaro RS with a 3.1 V6. I have been having problems with it lately. I can get the car to start and it will run for a while(times very) After running it for a while or driving it for a while the car just dies. I do not know why. I have already replaced plugs, distributor cap, rotor, ignition coil. I have had the ignition module tested but nothing seems to be working. If anyone might know what is up i would greatly appreciate the help. Thank You. |

Check the fuel pressure while driving, tape a FP gauge to the windshield and monitor the pressure. If it drops jst before the engine dies the pump needs to be replaced. If the pump checks good, replace the ignition module with an AC Delco one.

I had the module tested and everything is in proper working order. I will look into the fuel pump, and get back. Thanks

I just got a call from my garage today. They said that it is a pick-up coil in the distributor, and will cost about 250 to 300 total, and only 100 for the part. Anyone know of a good place that i could get one for cheaper??

We have discovered the problem with the camaro. It was the pick-up coil in the distributor. So we are replacing that and the beast will be running in a matter of days, (cuz im a little busy) Thanks to all who gave me ideas though

Re: Problems with a 92 RS
I replaced my whole distributor for $100. Got it from Orielly's. Sounds like your getting ripped. It would take them maybe 20 minutes to replace it. Another 10 to set the timing. Sounds pretty steep.
